Hi Friend,

Spring is in the air, and the weather here in La Paz has been pretty close to perfect lately. The days are warm and the nights are still cool, and there are just enough clouds in the sky in the morning and afternoons to make the sunsets and sunrises extra spectacular. We are grateful to live in this amazing place that we never, ever take for granted.

The La Paz real estate market continues on its growth trajectory, with lots of homes being listed and sold this season. To keep up with the pace, our team also continues to grow, and we are excited to announce yet another addition to our team, our newest sales agent, Saidee Hernández.

One question many of our clients often ask when considering a move to La Paz is whether, and how, they can get health insurance. This month, we bring you an article from an expert on the various types of private health insurance available, and the pros and cons of each. Check out our link to the article below.

Beginning March 24th, Mexico will be celebrating Semana Santa (Holy Week, which ends on Easter Sunday), one of the busiest holidays of the year. The holiday continues to stretch through the week following Easter, when most families are on holiday from school. Be sure to plan ahead if you have plans to travel to La Paz during that time. You can check out the link to our blog article with more info on Semana Santa below.

Our entire team loves giving back and being part of the community here in La Paz, and so we are excited to announce that the Baja Dogs Sterilizations Pawty & Play Fundraiser will be held at the San Juan Social Club in Chametla on April 10th. It's a cause that is near and dear to our hearts, so we hope you will join us if you are in town. See our article below for more details on the even. You can register early and get your tickets here.

Private Health Insurance Options for Expats in Mexico
International Annual Private Health Insurance vs. Mexican Annual Private Health Insurance: Which One is Right for You?
Thinking about purchasing private health insurance to cover you while you are in Mexico? If you have a home in La Paz and, like many expats, spend several months a year here, or you have taken the leap to live here full time as a temporary or permanent resident, chances are you have questions about how to obtain health insurance. Even if you are in good health, accidents happen, and it’s good to know what your options are before you need to visit a local hospital or see a doctor. Annual private health insurance policies from Mexican providers are constructed very differently than policies from international providers. It is very important to understand the significant differences in the way these plans work, before deciding on an option. In this article, Michael Keller, of M&M Insurance MX, outlines the different options along with pros and cons for each.

Celebrating Semana Santa in La Paz
One of the biggest holidays of the year in Mexico begins on March 24th.
SemanaSanta2024
Mexico is a country of celebrations and festivals. In February, we were treated to the days-long celebration that is Carnaval, and it was a great time all around. Next up on the calendar is one of the busiest celebrations of the year: the period known as Semana Santa and Semana Pascua, the week before Easter and the week following it. While Carnaval marked the start of the solemn religious season of Lent in the Christian calendar, Easter marks the end of solemnity and the start of a period of celebration and rebirth. Semana Santa, or Holy Week, officially starts on Palm Sunday, which falls on March 24th this year. Semana Santa celebrations are taken very seriously across Mexico. The country has 90,224,559 Catholics, which is the world’s second largest number of Catholics, surpassed only by Brazil. More than half of Mexicans are Catholic, so Semana Santa is a very important holiday in Mexico. It is common in many cities and towns across the country for the community to hold parades, stage elaborate processions or even re-enactments of what is known as the “Passion of Christ” or “La Via Crucis” (The Way of the Cross).
