Hi Friend,
We hope this month's newsletter finds you healthy, happy and looking forward to spring, wherever you may be located.

This month, we are (finally!) excited to announce the launch of Villas del Centenario, a new, master-planned community situated in the hills of El Centenario, overlooking the Sea of Cortez with stunning ocean views. Baja Life Realty, in partnership with Baja Custom Homes, is now taking presale lot reservations for this private, gated community of 44 homes, which will begin construction later this summer. See our article below for details and a link to our web site where you can download the brochure, view the lot map, and get details on available floor plans.

Here in Baja, March is a prime month to go see the grey whales that migrate here in winter to have their babies in Magdalena Bay. It's an amazing experience, so we went twice this year! We saw many whales both in Adolfo Lopez Mateos and in Puerto Chale, which is an easy day trip from La Paz. You can read about it here.

This month's Spotlight on El Centenario features Jalisco Plumbing, El Centenario’s local, family-owned hardware store offering a wide variety of plumbing and electrical supplies and services. Save yourself the trip to the big box stores, chances are the friendly folks at Jalisco can help you find what you need, while offering friendly, expert advice on how to use it.

Our state of Baja California Sur has been downgraded to a Level 3 (yellow) of activity for COVID. Masks are still required everywhere outside of your home, and social distancing and capacity restrictions are in place for businesses and public places. As always, you can get the full details here.

We hope you enjoy the newsletter. As always, contact us with questions. We are always happy to help other expats discover and enjoy all that La Paz has to offer.

Regards,
Jim & Rebecca MacDonald

How to Pet a Baby Grey Whale
Head to nearby Puerto Chale for an amazing whale watching experience you won't soon forget.
Booking a trip to go see the grey whales as they raise their babies in Magdalena Bay, on the Pacific side of the Baja peninsula, is one of those iconic Baja experiences not to be missed. In the past, to go see the whales, we would drive to Adolfo Lopez Mateos, about a 3 hour drive from La Paz, and rent a house or stay overnight in nearby San Carlos. More recently, Puerto Chale has become the new "it" spot to go whale watching. It's closer, only 2 hours from La Paz, making it an easy day trip, and on our recent outing there we were surrounded by dozens of whales, including the mamas and their babies. No matter which one you choose, this trip is not to be missed! The curious babies will often surface right next to your boat, making for amazing photo opps, if you can keep your wits about you and not drop your camera/phone in the water!

Spotlight on El Centenario
Jalisco Plumbing Supply
This month we focus our Spotlight on Jalisco Plumbing, El Centenario’s premier hardware store that offers a wide variety of plumbing and electrical supplies and services. With its walls of carefully arranged tools, glues, cutters, and crimpers; and its shelves filled with small bins of every bolt, nail, washer and part you can think of, Jalisco is a DIYer's paradise. The next time you need a 16mm copper female end elbow reciprocator thingy for your washer hookup, head to Jalisco Plumbing first. You’ll save time, money and the drive to Home Depot, and you’ll be supporting seven local families.

We want to thank Jim and Rebecca from Baja Life La Paz. We found our forever home and appreciate all the assistance received from Jim. If you’re thinking about moving to La Paz, Jim was friendly, helpful, and most importantly, honest. A big thanks to you both, vecinos.
