Hi Friend,

Welcome to our October newsletter. Finally, the weather is turning cooler again, the air is getting drier and we are all eagerly welcoming the Fall season back to La Paz! We were blessed with some lovely rain throughout this season, including one big storm, Olaf. If you haven't been to La Paz lately you'll be amazed at how green the desert is now! It's wonderful to watch the desert come to life and all the plants bloom where before it was dry and brown.

The real estate market is picking back up already after a brief respite during the heat of August and September, and with travel restrictions easing somewhat we are seeing more visitors who are interested in buying or building their dream home here in Baja.

El Centenario continues to attract buyers looking for an affordable property as a vacation or retirement home. The new master-planned community of Villas del Centenario continues to prove popular with expats, with nine lots now under contract in this new, master-planned development. With stunning ocean view home sites on large, 1,500+ m2 lots, this community really does offer a slice of paradise. Another new development, Real Centenario, is also attracting buyers with affordable, 2 story homes on smaller lots offering close proximity to the beaches of La Paz Bay.

One local El Centenario resident has been creating a series of videos about their move to Baja. The latest in the series offers a video tour of El Centenario, featuring Baja Life Realty's own Jim MacDonald, who takes us on a tour of the different neighborhoods in the area.

As of this newsletter, the state of BCS's COVID-19 traffic light system has been downgraded once again to Level 2/Yellow, with beaches open and now operating at 70% capacity. For the latest information and updates on the current status and what activities are allowed at each level, visit the BCS state government web site here.

We hope you enjoy this month’s newsletter, and we look forward to seeing our seasonal residents and visitors back in La Paz soon. As always, contact us with any questions, or just drop us a line to let us know if you're planning a trip to La Paz. We'd love to help you make the most of your visit.

Regards,
Jim & Rebecca MacDonald

Driving Baja
Our tips for making your drive to La Paz fun, safe and scenic.
DrivingBaja
Driving the Baja peninsula is a fun adventure filled with stunning scenery, quirky small towns, remote beaches, and opportunities for great photos. The 900 mile trip from the US/Mexico border in California or Arizona to La Paz in Baja California Sur can take two or more days, depending on your itinerary. In our new Driving Baja Guide, we discuss the different segments of the journey, along with a few popular stops along the way, and provide tips on how to complete the journey safely.

Useful Spanish
Each month, we'll bring you a useful Spanish phrase to help get you started speaking like a local.
If you are eating at a La Paz area restaurant, you may hear the waiter or a fellow patron say "Provecho!" or "Buen Provecho!" as they are passing by your table. This is the equivalent of the phrase "bon appétit" in French. It means "Enjoy your meal!" and is considered the polite thing to say as you are leaving the restaurant and walking by another diner's table. So next time you are dining out, remember to wish your fellow diners "Provecho!" as you leave.

"We began working with Jim and Rebecca of Baja Life Realty prior to even visiting La Paz. During our first visit in March, we were shown many appropriate properties and the information was very well organized. We ended up having an accepted offer by the end of our three day visit. Communication was always timely and thorough. We closed in August, drove down from Oregon and are happy full time residents in a beautiful home." Kelly & Jo Ann
