Hi Friend,

The heat is on. We've had several days, weeks even, of over 100F/37C degree weather already this summer. It even hit 110F in July, a first for us since we've been living here! Those temps came earlier than usual this year for La Paz, which doesn't typically hit it's highest temperatures until mid-August through September.

So what do we full-timers do when the temperatures get this high? Head to the beach, of course! La Paz has so many beautiful beaches, and in summer they are much less crowded. Of course, if you know about the "secret" beaches that the locals like to seek out, those are never really crowded. Ask us, we'll let you in on a few of our favorite spots.

It's been a busy year for real estate in La Paz, and our team is growing! Baja Life Realty is excited to welcome Chanel Graham, our newest licensed sales agent, to the team. Chanel is an experienced agent who lives in El Centenario full time. She joins Baja Life Realty's other sales agent, Ian Wilson, in helping our clients find their dream home here in Baja.

We also want to thank our long-time administrator, Fern Corraini, for her friendship and help in growing the business. Fern is the author of our "Spotlight on Centenario" blog series, which features local businesses in the growing community of El Centenario, and has been invaluable in helping us in too many ways to count. She's retiring from her position now to spend more time enjoying her life here in La Paz, and we wish her all the best!

With the La Paz real estate market so busy this past year, many of the properties on the market have sold. We expect more homes to come on the market this fall, but in the meantime, check out this beautiful new construction property on Calle 17 in El Centenario. The home is under construction now, but there is still time to choose your finishes and make it your own. There is also a new lot available on Calle 15 in El Centenario where you can build your dream home with a view.

Already been to La Paz? Thinking of making it your home? Found the perfect property? Before you make an offer, be sure to read our article on how to prepare to make sure your offer process goes smoothly.

If you're wondering what it's really like to live, shop, eat and hang out in La Paz, join our friend, Brighton West, whose popular YouTube channel Almost Retired in Mexico takes us on a tour of local La Paz neighborhoods.

And finally, if you have spent any time here in La Paz, chances are you've seen the many dogs that roam the streets here. That's why we volunteer with US-based charity Baja Dogs La Paz, which helps bring free sterilization services to underserved La Paz communities. Check out the story below to find out more about how Baja Dogs is addressing the street dog problem at the source.
We moved here. You can, too.

Villas del Centenario Update
New master-planned community in the hills of El Centenario is taking shape!
The new master-planned community of Villas del Centenario, located in the hills of El Centenario overlooking the Sea of Cortez, continues to take shape! Three homes, including lots 7022, 7023 and 8015, are well underway, with 4 more homes scheduled to start construction this month. The CFE electrical infrastructure has been installed, and much of the perimeter fence completed. Due to a very busy real estate market this year and a long wait list, the city is taking longer to register property titles than in the past. However, we have received word that the common area lots have now been registered, and we anticipate construction will begin on those, including the front entrance wall and gate, office/gym, sport courts, etc., this fall. We are also planning to begin construction on a model home, which will be located on lot 7024. There continues to be a hold on lot sales in the community while construction continues, as the initial round of lot reservations came in much faster than anticipated. More lots will be released for sale this Fall 2022. In the meantime, construction continues!

Baja Dogs La Paz Raises $21,000 USD for Pet Sterilization
The funds will be used to provide free pet sterilization services to underserved communities in La Paz.
Those of you who know us, know of our passion for rescuing and fostering abandoned street dogs for adoption here in La Paz. We also serve as volunteers for Baja Dogs La Paz, a US based charity that brings free pet sterilization services to underserved La Paz communities. These families love their pets and want what's best for them, but often can't afford to take their dogs to a vet to be sterilized. This past month, Baja Dogs was incredibly grateful to have been honored at an annual Furry Fundraiser event in San Diego, CA. The event was a huge success, with 135 people in attendance and over $21,000 USD raised to help fund Baja Dogs’ sterilization campaigns. To see a video about Baja Dogs' sterilization campaigns in local La Paz communities, or to donate, you can read more about it here.

"We were nervous about our decision to move to La Paz and purchase a home. Jim and Rebecca did a fantastic job of helping us with both decisions. They were happy to answer any and all questions, no matter what they were about. They held our hands from the first step to the last. We are now proud owners of our wonderful new home in El Centenario and thoroughly enjoy it. Thank you Jim and Rebecca for doing all the hard work in the background, you made it seem so easy!"
